Purpose
Social media is powerful! With appropriate use, it can enhance Secure’s reputation. This policy provides clear guidance for responsible, safe, and respectful use of social media by Semsites, ensuring alignment with Secure’s beliefs.
Scope
This policy applies to:
- all employees of Secure and its subsidiaries worldwide (permanent, contractual, temporary, interns, consultants),
- all forms of social media and online platforms, including but not limited to LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, Signal, TikTok, Threads, Snapchat, YouTube, WhatsApp, Telegram, Reddit, blogs, forums, and future emerging platforms.
Key definitions
- Secure: Secure Meters Ltd and all its subsidiaries in India and internationally, including those managed in partnership.
- Semsites: All employees of Secure and its subsidiaries worldwide, including those on permanent, full-time, part-time, temporary and contractual roles, internships, trainees, apprentices, consultants and any other form of employment or training.
- Confidential information: Any non-public business, financial, technical, customer, or employee information.
- Personal data: Information that can directly or indirectly identify a person.
- Official spokesperson: Individuals formally authorised to speak on behalf of Secure on online platforms.
Guiding principles
We trust Semsites will protect Secure’s interests and use social media responsibly. In accordance with our beliefs, we expect all Semsites to:
- be personally accountable for all content they share online,
- never disclose internal announcements, strategies, financial or technical data, or customer information,
- be respectful to all – Colleagues, partners, customers, and the general public,
- share only verified information. If you make an error, correct it promptly,
- be clear about representation:
- If posting in a personal capacity: clearly state that views are your own.
- If posting as part of Secure: ensure accuracy, integrity, and alignment with Secure’s voice.
- do not use discriminatory or offensive language,
- do not comment on ongoing or past legal matters,
- do not violate copyright, trademarks, or intellectual property rights,
- if in doubt, ask for guidance from your respective manager or the Design and Communications team.
Use of messaging apps for official communication
- Signal and Microsoft Teams are the only approved messaging platforms for all official, work-related communication (individual or group).
- Semsites must not use any other messaging/chat apps for Secure-related discussions, document sharing, or business communication.
- It is understood that communications with external parties may require the use of tools other than Signal. Where possible, use Signal for external communications.
- Exceptions must be formally approved by the INFOSEC team.
Compliance and consequences
- Secure does not actively monitor personal accounts but reserves the right to review public activity if it impacts the organisation’s reputation.
- Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including warnings, suspension, or termination. Severe breaches (e.g., data leaks, reputational harm) may result in legal action.
Policy updates
- Secure reserves the right to amend, change, or withdraw this policy at any time. Semsites will be informed of significant changes.
