Apex, the grid metering system launched. Apex is a class 0.2 meter for metering bulk electricity transfer points. It was a major innovation at the time.

World's first online prepayment vending system launched with a contract from Northern Ireland Electricity. UKAS accreditation achieved. Northern Ireland Electricity replaces its prepayment system with Liberty. Shows money on a basic IHD. Users save on their bills. NIE achieves remarkable business results.

Bated plant set-up in Himachal Pradesh to meet increasing demand. Metering related services, Low Power Radio powered AMR system, and STARS, the ABT metering software is launched.

Australian operations start. Meter sales in Australia begin.

New businesses, new products, new customers

Acquired Swedish metering company, Cewe Instrument.  Launched Prodigy, distribution transformer metering unit. Australian launch of i-Credit 400. First Powercor, SP AusNet and ACTEWAGL meter supply. Prodigy, a thread through meter used at distribution transformers was another innovation to combat fraud. Its thread through technology makes it hard to tamper with.

Persistence pays

ISO:14000 certification for environment management received. Received prestigious Queen's award for outstanding performance in international business. First integral energy meter supply. Legislative amendment to enact Victorian AMI rollout. AMI trials in Victoria and first meter supply. Smart meter launched.

Smart initiatives

ISO:27001 certification for information management security achieved. Acquired well known British company, Horstmann Controls. Entry into home controls and energy management business. Horizon, the AMI system launched. PRI Australasia incorporated.

Winning Victoria

First smart metering/AMI order from Victoria, Australia, and further growth of the smart grid business. Won a first prize in Six Sigma competition jointly organised by Indian Statistical Institute and Quality Council of India, held in Bangalore. Sprint 200 and i-Credit 500 series of meters are a solution for AMI applications. Modular communications allow utilities to use the most appropriate solution ensuring they meet current and future needs.

Achieved CMMi Level 3 certification. Citipower/Powercor first production meter supplied.

Another weapon in the energy saving arsenal

Pump performance monitoring system Censeo launched. The smart metering kit was the only SMETS1 compliant solution available in the UK at the time. Censeo is based on a patented technology. It can monitor pumps, blowers and turbines to identify opportunities for savings and to audit performance.

2014 Manipur

This northeastern Indian state had one of the highest AT&C losses. Liberty was used in a trial area where losses were >70%; losses halved. Customers have found pre-payment the most convenient way to purchase electricity and have developed the habit of paying for it. Today there are over 150K Liberty users in the region.
