Secure has won the European Smart Metering & Smart Grid Award
Secure’s system for the retrieval and processing of smart meter data was chosen as the Data Management Solution of the Year 2015. Nominations for this prestigious award are made by actual users of smart metering / smart grid technologies. An international jury of experts in technology and users selects the winners. Suket Singhal, Group CEO, received the award on behalf of the company at a glittering awards ceremony in London yesterday.
Babu Babel, then Chief Executive of Secure’s Energy SBU, said, “This award represents the best of Secure. Our ability to foresee customers’ real needs and be the first in the market with products that exceed customers’ expectations has, once again, been recognised.”
Kaushak Patel, Sales Director, Secure (UK), said, “This award recognises the ease with which our customers have been able to integrate smart meters within their business processes”.
Secure is a leading provider of smart metering systems with a large installed base of smart meter devices in Australia and Europe. Having developed smart meters and systems with its in-house R&D team, it is a major exporter of smart meters from India. Over the last five years, Secure has supplied smart meters (produced in India) worth over US$250 million.
It is a major player in smart meter deployment in the UK. With more than 1 million smart meters under contract, it is the first provider of SMETS1-compliant smart pre-payment meters in the UK. Its innovative and customer-friendly smart meter has found wide acceptance amongst energy users.
The award-winning solution is used to operate smart meters installed at customer premises. It gathers meter readings remotely from millions of smart meters and is also used to change tariffs, operate pre-pay, etc. Utilities can easily integrate the system into their IT systems. A very low operating cost and the highest levels of data security are its key defining features.
Secure’s smart meters, supported by their SMSO, have had a huge impact on our business. The manner in which the SMSO works meant that our journey to integrate it into our IT systems was simple. This meant that we could focus on providing the fuel poor with the best pre-payment service, rather than getting bogged down in a giant IT programme. The ability to add retail points to Secure’s PPMIP also provides us with incredible flexibility”, Bill Bullen, MD Utility Energy.
Kaushik Ghosh, Chief Technology Officer of Secure, said, “Achieving reliability and scale was the key issue in this product. Our solution is truly innovative and has been tested to collect data from 1 million metering points within minutes.”
Sanjaya Singhal, then Group Chief Executive, Secure Group, said, “We are delighted that our European customers have bestowed this honour on us. Secure’s team, committed to our core values of innovation, teamwork, integrity and agility, has worked very hard to deliver this complex product. Such accolades are a huge encouragement for us to perform even better.”
