The ChannelPlus the great leap forward

The Horstmann ChannelPlus was originally launched in the 1990`s to accommodate zoning in larger properties, it went on to enjoy huge success due to its ease of use and reliability. At the time it was the first true multi zone programmer capable of independently controlling up to 4 zones and became the go to unit for installers looking to control multiple zones. This set the standard of the day which was continued with the upgraded series 2 versions that came out in 2008, with improved back lights and holiday functions. A lot has changed in the controls market since then, including increased demand for more energy efficiency and convenience.

Today the Channel Plus has become the Secure H3747 and has had a host of upgrades:

• Uses Bluetooth-powered app (out-of-the-box)
• Easy to upgrade (smart-capable) with Wi-Fi for full smart off-property control
• BolierPlus Compliant – Load compensation & Optimum Start-Stop
• 12-year battery life warranty on programmable thermostat display (PTD)
• 9-pin back plate for easier retrofitting

Easy to Install

The new H3747 uses the exact same wall plate as the original Channel Plus and now has the advantage of being volt-free as well. When you order the new H3747 there will now be two units in the box. The receiver fits directly onto the traditional 9 pin plate and wires to the boiler like a regular programmer. There is a wireless programmable thermostat that performs all the programming functions for both heating and water, for all the zones. This new wireless programmer is designed to be positioned like a regular wireless thermostat, or it can even sit on a table. The two units are already paired together so there is no complicated setup procedure, just wire the receiver box to the wall and switch the thermostat on. This makes the whole process of installation and retrofitting a simple process.

Easy to Control

Controlling existing wired thermostats is also simply a matter of making sure the correct wire is in the appropriate terminal of the receiver, such as if you are retrofitting an existing H37XL. The H3747 can control up to 4 zones but you might not need all of them on day one. To make the system truly modular and expandable you can easily add another zone at a later stage. The whole range has been reduced to one model which accommodates 1 to 4 zones allowing for the streamlining of inventory and reducing the amount of cat codes required for purchase and distribution.

Easy to be EcoCompliant!

The range has been updated to be to keep pace with current and future regulations such as Boiler Plus and SAP – read blog on EC04 in UK. Going forward compliance will be a major factor in specifications and the H3747s ability to become connected and receive updates to its firmware will allow it to stay cutting-edge.

Future-proofed Features

Given the march of time it wasn’t enough to simply update the ChannelPlus range, we have gone further to provide a modern programmer that boasts many advantages that will allow it to be future proof for years to come. For instance, all the traditional programming features have moved from the unit mounted on the wall to a modern streamlined portable controller that also acts as a programmable thermostat for the main heating zone. This mobile programmer allows you to control all your zones quickly and easily. You now also have the latest Boiler Plus technology such as Optimum start and Stop for all your heating zones.

Smart-Capable = flexible solutions

The new H3747 even works with an optional app right out of the box via Bluetooth on any iPhone or Android smartphone. This means you can control all your temperature settings and schedules from the comfort of your own couch. There is even the possibility of upgrading further if you want full remote access without having to acquire and configure extra devices like gateways and hubs.

Like many of Secure’s newer products, the H3747 is also now smart-capable, meaning it can be upgraded with a simple plugin Wi-Fi adaptor to allow full remote access for those who wish. This can be carried out by anyone, there is no gateway or hub to set up, just an optional plug-in card.
